Project Spectrum check in (overdue)
I haven't blogged about Project Spectrum 2.0 in awhile. I love the concept of the rotating color themes. But I'm starting to think that it's merely an accident when my color choices coincide with the PS 2.0 colors.
Maybe it's because I don't think about knitting projects in terms of color. Generally I am attracted to a pattern but I rarely have a particular color in mind as I choose the yarn with which to knit it. I just look for a color that I like that I think would look nice on me (or the recipient) in the particular pattern. I find I get drawn more often to certain colors; red and red/purples spring to mind. Obvious exceptions are things like the Gryffindor scarves I made a few years ago.
The last color cycle was more or less a bust. The colors were pink, yellow & green for April + May. I worked green into Lizard Ridge in April, then knit a big orange baby blanket to finish off May.
The colors are black, red & metallics through the end of July. I've got red covered. See?
It's for my mom; it matches her winter coat. Danish Earflap Hat from Hats On! I've intentionally not shown you the sides because it still needs blocking. But I just had to show off the amazing snowflake crown decreases - isn't that brilliant?
I didn't knit this hat now because it's a PS 2.0 color. I knit it now because it's a gift for my mom and she'll visiting in 1.5 weeks. This is likely the last time I'll see her before hat weather begins and I wanted to give it to her in person + in time to get a full season's wear. Another accidental PS 2.0 knit.
If Lolly were writing this post, she'd ask you: How do you think about color when choosing your projects? I love how Lolly starts dialogue in her comments by asking a question at the end of her posts. I've always felt self conscious about it. When you're done commenting, go wish Lolly a happy third blogiversary!
