Not too shabby, eh?Zwinger on the right, Hofkirche (Dom/Cathedral) on the left. The Semper Opera house is out of view to the left of this point of view.

The vertical banner shows a silhouette of one side of the Frauenkirche when it is complete. This scaffolding is huge, and is lifted as segments of the building are completed.

The Dreikoenigskirche was nearly destroyed by the allied bombing. As a memorial, a new building was built around the shell of the old altar. Very powerful reminder of the destructive power of conventional weapons.

I have this sneaking feeling that the statue is flashing somebody. Perhaps this is the only form of protest one has when one can no longer hurl rotten fruit at one's political leaders.

In 1814, a flight of steps was built, connecting the Bruehl Terrace to the Schlossplatz, thus opening it up to the public.
